I hope he is able to deal with the MS. It can be a crippling disease, but with good meds, he can have a full life.
But I think he is done in the NFL. He will be hard pressed to find a team willing to add him to thier roster, simply because of this condition. _________________ Thank You; Good Night; God Bless and Roll Tide |

You may be right Brian, but if so that's a sad commentary on the NFL. They should judge him by his ability and his skills not speculation of what might happen to him in the future. In any case I wish him well. He was indeed one of the most popular players on Auburn's team both because of his ability and because of his faith. _________________

Lewis,
They are more concerned, that if he plays he will get seriously injured.
And it doesn't matter how popular he was at Auburn; the couldn't care less.
It's a business not a game. _________________ Thank You; Good Night; God Bless and Roll Tide |

It looks like they caught it early. I think he'll catch on somewhere at least for a little while. He sets a great example. Definitely pulling for him. |

My point on CT Brian is that contracts are short term anyway and they can make it as short as they want. If he is able to play, is cleared to play and good enough then someone should give him a shot... and they probably will... I could see however where some teams might overlook his ability and focus on his disease which, if it is not affecting his ability would be wrong.
As for whether being popular maters.. I really can't say for sure as I don't follow the pros that closely. But pro sports in general have done a terrible job in NOT thinking of character when they put teams together. The NBA especially has a lot of trouble with thugs. Do you think that having a guy like Peyton Manning - who everyone (not wearing crimson) likes is good PR and helps the team sell tickets and merchandise? Of course it does... likewise, when you have a team full of thugs it is harder to get excited about that team. Winning sells more than anything of course, but winning with a team of players people actually like will sell more than winning with a bunch of thugs... I'm not sure how many pro teams really get that though. _________________

Lewis,
Since I do follow the NFL, I can tell you that is nice to see teams that have good character players on thier team. That being said, If the thugs or at least bad characters, can play, they will always have a team take a chance on them; TO for example.
Bottom line is this, a team may talk about having good character players, but that quality is way down on the list when it comes to evaluating a player.
But it is that way in life.
Be honest with yourself. Although with your good character you might not take this chance; but if the best engineer in the world was available, would you hire him? Even if he was a scumbag? You have to look at how many contracts you might get just having him on your roster. Like I said you might not hire him, but how many of your competitors would? So to keep him from hurting your company, again you might consider him.
That is what most teams in the NFL do. They are just trying to reach thier goal, to be the best.
(On a side note. It's nice to have a civil conversation on this board.) _________________ Thank You; Good Night; God Bless and Roll Tide |
